Unlocked Talent

A few weeks ago the Brunel Foundation welcomed an intern of a Dutch high school for special education. David is a sixteen-year-old boy with great talent for drawing. His ambition is to become a graphic designer or to work in the field of Marketing & Communication.

We compiled a programme in which we tried to match his learning ambitions: learn how to use Photoshop, what a day at a Marketing & Communication department would be like and discover his other talents besides drawing.

On his first day, David was quite nervous. The ‘office environment’ seemed to be quite exciting, but when he entered our office at the High Tech Campus in Eindhoven, he got more relaxed. A freelance illustrator explained all about her job and learned him how to make a graphic design in Photoshop. See the result in the picture. On his second day, he joined our Marketing & Communication department at our headquarters in Amsterdam. Our colleagues Nica and Wesley explained more about their jobs and together they made an Instagram swipe story. Wednesday he helped the Brunel Foundation with a clean-up pilot at the High Tech Campus. On Thursday he accompanied Noud of Corporate Communications and found out more about how companies present themselves. On Friday, the last day, he finished his assignments for school.

David was surprised that working at an office was more fun than he had imagined. He turned out to be a quick and eager learner. Hopefully he will join Team Brunel one day in the future!
Special thanks to our Brunel colleagues that helped to make David’s internship into a success!
