In celebration of World Food Day, Brunel Life Sciences and Singapore Team recently had the privilege of participating in a meaningful volunteering initiative at Krshna Free Meals in Singapore. Together with other caring volunteers, our team helped prepare breakfast for migrant workers and those in need, embodying our commitment to making a positive impact in the community

Recognising World Food Day

Observed every year on 16th October, World Food Day raises awareness of global hunger and food security. This day highlights the need for collective action in ensuring everyone, everywhere has access to food. This year, Brunel is proud to align our actions with these values.

As a company deeply involved in Food Sciences and Nutrition within the Life Sciences industry, Brunel recognises the crucial role of food innovation, procession and technology in improving nutrition for future generations. Our team felt it was important to take our work beyond recruitment and laboratory expertise, and to make a tangible difference in the lives of those in our local community.

Giving a helping hand to Krshna's Free Meals

At Krshna Food Kitchen, our Life Sciences team and a couple of local colleagues worked side by side with their dedicated volunteers to prepare breakfast for those in need before the break of dawn.

It was a hands-on experience that allowed us to step out of our day-to-day roles and truly engage with the community. Whether chopping vegetables or fruits, serving or distributing meals, the team embodied the values of compassion and service that are core to Brunel.

To date, close to 1,000,000 migrant workers have enjoyed meals provided by Krshna Free Meals and everyday around 1,8000 breakfasts and lunch are being served. It is a remarkable initiative that spreads love and care, one meal at a time.

Gratitude for the Experience

We are grateful for the opportunity to serve the community in Singapore. The experience was not just about the meals we prepared but also the connections we made within the local community in Singapore. A huge thank you to everyone who participated in this meaning initiative and stay tuned for more ways Brunel is committed to making a positive impact in the future!

“As we had the privilege of volunteering with the incredible Ms. Latha Govindasamy, we gained a deeper understanding of the Krshna Free Meals initiative. She emphasised how food embodies diversity, nutrition, affordability, and safety—values that nourish both body and soul. This message beautifully aligns with this year's World Food Day theme: ‘The Right to Food for a Better Life and a Better Future,’ reminding us all that access to nutritious food is not just a need, but a fundamental right that shapes healthier communities and brighter tomorrows”
