Introduction

We are seeking experienced, safety-focused Automotive Electricians to join Rio Tinto's Heavy Mobile Equipment (HME) Maintenance team. You will perform planned, preventative, and breakdown maintenance on CAT and Komatsu Electric Drive Trucks and other heavy electrical mining equipment. This permanent, full-time FIFO role operates from Perth, Albany, Busselton & Geraldton, with roster flexibility and excellent benefits and career pathways.

What are you going to do 

As part of the Mobile Maintenance Team, your responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of low voltage electrical systems on HME fleet
  • Fault finding, diagnostics, and repairs on electrical drive trucks and other mining equipment
  • Conducting isolations and inspections, identifying defects, and raising quality notifications
  • Completing quality handovers between shifts and maintaining accurate records in SAP
  • Ensuring all work meets OEM standards and relevant statutory requirements
  • Maintaining compliance with Rio Tinto safety, environmental, and electrical standards (e.g. DMIRS)
  • Supporting operational activities and driving improvements in equipment reliability and availability
  • Collaborating closely with maintenance, operations, and site stakeholders
  • Proactively contributing to a positive and safe workplace culture and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Using SAP to record maintenance history, progress tasks, and enter notifications
  • Maintaining all required high-risk licences, inspections, and certifications as per site and legislative requirements

Essential skills and knowledge 

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Australian Recognised Trade qualification - Auto Electrician (Cert III or equivalent)
  • Previous experience maintaining heavy mobile equipment in mining or heavy industry
  • Demonstrated experience working on Electrical Drive Trucks and heavy mobile mining equipment (CAT and Komatsu preferred)
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics and technical information
  • WA A Grade Electrical Licence
  • Valid WA Manual C-Class Driver's Licence (HR highly desirable)
  • High Risk Work Licences - Forklift (LF) and Elevated Work Platform (WP)
  • High Voltage Isolation and Access Certificate
  • Current CPR Certificates
  • Confined Space and Working at Heights certification
  • Experience using SAP or similar CMMS
  • A strong safety focus and commitment to working within Rio Tinto's safety systems
  • Good problem-solving skills, initiative, and a team-oriented approach
  • Full Australian working rights - Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident
