Introduction

Are you a mechanical engineer ready to shape the core hardware of cutting-edge naval systems? At this assignment, you'll work on cabinet and console designs that house high-end electronics-built to perform under extreme military conditions. In this hands-on role, you contribute directly to the safety, strength, and reliability of mission-critical systems.

What are you going to do 

What will you do?

  • Create mechanical designs in CREO for mission-critical cabinets and consoles, following strict performance and environmental requirements.
  • Collaborate daily with system architects, electrical engineers, and test engineers to ensure design choices meet system-level goals.
  • Develop and validate prototypes by defining structural test setups and analyzing the results with IVQ/test specialists.
  • Ensure compliance with military standards, IP ratings, EMC requirements, modularity, accessibility, and manufacturability.

Essential skills and knowledge 

You're a practical problem-solver with strong communication skills and a hands-on mentality. You enjoy switching between design, testing, and teamwork, and you're passionate about building reliable systems for real-world impact.

Additionally, you have:

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a similar mechanical design role.
  • Proven experience with CREO (v8 or higher); SolidWorks is a plus.
  • Familiarity with CAD and PDM tools (preferably Windchill/PDMlink).
  • A creative, open-minded approach and the flexibility to adapt.
  • Excellent verbal and written English skills (Dutch is a plus).
  • Availability to work on-site at least 3 days per week.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for short external assignments.
