Introduction

We're hiring an experienced Project Manager - IT Infrastructure to deliver a major rail communications upgrade project within a complex operational environment. You'll manage all phases from scope and planning to commissioning, working closely with engineering teams, vendors, and business stakeholders to meet program timelines and strategic outcomes.

What are you going to do

As Project Manager for the Rail Multi-Bearer Communications stream, you will be accountable for the end-to-end delivery of a complex infrastructure initiative. This includes comprehensive planning, procurement coordination, execution oversight, and seamless transition to operational support. Your responsibilities will span the development of Statements of Work, vendor engagement, equipment logistics, testing and commissioning strategies, and the establishment of long-term support frameworks.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with RF engineers, network architects, vendors, and implementation partners to ensure all technical components are effectively integrated and aligned to project timelines. You will manage procurement and installation schedules, coordinate systems integration activities, and oversee formal testing, commissioning, and acceptance processes. Additionally, you will lead the definition of service level agreements (SLAs) and escalation procedures to underpin ongoing operational performance.

A key element of the role includes providing detailed project estimates for inclusion in overarching program plans and capital expenditure submissions. Throughout the project lifecycle, you will maintain proactive engagement with stakeholders, ensuring alignment through transparent reporting, effective risk management, and strict adherence to governance and compliance standards.

Essential skills and knowledge

To be successful in this role, you will hold a recognised Project Management qualification such as PMI, PRINCE2, or equivalent. You have proven experience delivering complex infrastructure or technology projects, the ability to coordinate multiple workstreams, and exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills. Experience in RF or network communications will be highly regarded, and familiarity with project delivery in safety-critical environments is advantageous.

Your experience includes leading large-scale infrastructure projects, ideally within operational or industrial environments such as rail, mining, or logistics.

What we offer

This is a Perth-based contract role with the potential for extension, offering the opportunity to deliver a strategically significant infrastructure project within a major transformation program. You will work in a highly collaborative environment alongside experienced technical and delivery professionals.
