Introduction

Brunel is seeking an experienced Senior Instrumentation & Control Engineer.You will provide specialist I&C engineering expertise across brownfield modification projects, shutdown scopes, and ongoing operational support.
This is a Perth-based role with a mix of office engineering, vendor interface, and occasional site engagement.

What are you going to do 

  • Lead the preparation and review of I&C engineering deliverables, including specifications, datasheets, design drawings, and calculations.
  • Provide technical guidance for the selection, design, installation, and commissioning of instrumentation, control systems, and associated equipment.
  • Interface with operations, maintenance, and vendors to resolve technical queries and ensure compliance with design standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Support project engineering activities for brownfield modifications, ensuring integration with existing plant systems.
  • Conduct risk assessments, HAZOPs, and participate in control system design reviews.
  • Review and approve supplier documentation, FAT procedures, and commissioning plans.
  • Liaise with multi-discipline teams to ensure project deliverables are aligned with schedule and budget.

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Instrumentation, or Control Systems Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in instrumentation and control engineering within the oil & gas sector.
  • Proven experience with distributed control systems (DCS), safety instrumented systems (SIS), fire & gas detection, and field instrumentation.
  • Strong understanding of IEC, ISA, and Australian standards.
  • Experience in brownfield modification projects and operational support environments.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to work across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience with Inpex or similar LNG projects highly regarded.
