Introduction

Brunel has an exciting opportunity for a Construction Project Estimator with our client who is a leading mining company. This position will be site based and support the project team on an active construction project. This position will be responsible for complying with company corporate estimating procedures while developing and reviewing estimates.

What are you going to do

Will consider out of area candidate. If a candidate is not local to Bagdad, Arizona, clients will provide accommodation and travel for a 4 week on, 1 week off rotation, along with monthly stipend for living expenses. Work from home on the week off is only allowed with approval from the client manager.

This position will be responsible for:

  • Reviewing contractor change orders against baseline budget and assist in the overall change management process
  • Develop internal company change orders as needed
  • Reviewing and assessing contractor estimates, bids, and proposals for overall completeness and competitiveness against market conditions, while also assuring the contractor has met overall corporate estimating guidelines
  • At times, be responsible for developing the Estimating Execution Plan with the project team, including an overall Estimate Schedule
  • Develop Direct, Indirect, Escalation, Contingency, and Owner's Cost elements for estimates
  • Develop the Basis of Estimate (BoE)
  • Working with Corporate Estimating Manager to ensure all corporate estimating standard operating procedures are adhered to

Essential skills and knowledge 

Basic Job Requirement:

  • ​​​​​​Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study and ten (10) years of work-related experience or a combination of education and directly related experience equal to fourteen (14) years if non-degreed
  • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include, but are not limited to, management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors
  • Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
  • Attention to detail and ability to work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner

Other Job Requirements:

  • Familiarity with heavy civil and heavy industrial construction practices and benchmarks
  • Familiarity with "Blue Book" for reviewing and developing construction equipment rates
  • Familiarity with estimating software such as Hard Dollar, Cleopatra, RS Means, etc.
