Introduction

We are currently hiring a Reginal Area Manager for delivering sustainable revenue by working closely with the site operations and crews. In addition, the position is responsible for growing the business in the Labrador West area (mining, quarry, construction, and major civil projects). This is a full-time permanent opportunity.

What are you going to do 

  • Overall IOC site contract compliance (Health and Safety, Operations, Commercial), managing the customer relationship as well as working with our site operations team to ensure continuity of supply.
  • Securing growth opportunities in mining, quarry, and construction.
  • Managing 20+ employees.
  • Responsible for safety, production, quality, and budgets for their area of mine operations.
  • Approve plans, delegate work to their teams, oversee progress, solve problems, and take corrective action when required.
  • Organize budgets and monitor spending.
  • Prepare reports and briefs on production, safety, progress on projects, and more.
  • Lead and participate in meetings and briefings.
  • Oversee the development of supervisors, providing support and guidance.
  • Remain involved with union(s) representatives and the HR department to avoid and resolve personnel issues and grievances.

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • Engineering degree: either in mining, civil, or geological, is preferred. College or technical degree combined with relevant experience will also be considered.
  • Knowledge of mining, drilling & blasting processes is required. Knowledge of explosives products will be considered an asset.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, all while being autonomous and self-sufficient.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in a related industry, including team supervision of local crews and client support.
  • Strong track record of building positive relationships with co-workers, team members, as well as clients and stakeholders.
  • A good working knowledge of commonly used business IT technologies.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of OH&S Act and Health, Safety, and Environment management systems.
  • Knowledge of cash flow modeling techniques and mineral economics is an asset.
