Join Brunel as a Senior Process Engineer and lead the way in innovating and optimizing advanced coating solutions, working globally with cutting-edge technology!

What are you going to do 

You will play a key role in bringing coating equipment to life by defining process requirements, optimizing coatings, and overseeing system commissioning and acceptance at customer sites. You will create and implement coating solutions for potential clients, transforming them into fully operational production systems while contributing to the development of new technologies and processes. This work takes place in a dynamic environment with diverse customers and projects, where initiative, technical expertise, collaboration, and teamwork are essential for success. You will join the Process Engineering department, working with a team of 16 colleagues in the Netherlands and several more in Asia.

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • A Master degree (MSc) or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, Physics or similar.
  • Over 3 years of industrial experience in development, characterization and/or application of wear protecting coatings like oxides, nitrides, carbides or similar hard coatings.
  • Thorough knowhow on plasma physics and plasma diagnostic.
  • Interest and skills in troubleshooting equipment.
  • Passion for technology and experience in working in project teams.
  • Relevant experience in sputtering (HIPIMS/DMS) and/or Arc technology and/or PVD coatings for tools.
  • You speak English fluently and preferably Dutch, German and/or Chinese as well.
  • Willingness to travel worldwide on a regular base (30%).
