Introduction

We are seeking a motivated and knowledgeable Trainer for Commercial Cooking Equipment to join our client's team. As a Trainer, you will be responsible for delivering operational, maintenance, and customer-specific training to our national chains in the supermarket and wholesale club segments. You will ensure that their staff are well-prepared and equipped to effectively use our commercial cooking equipment. This role requires travel 15-20 days out of the month.

What are you going to do

Responsibility

  • Conduct on-site, hands-on training sessions for customers' staff at national supermarket and wholesale club chains, focusing on commercial cooking equipment, primarily for anglophone customers outside of Quebec and occasionally for francophone customers within Quebec.
  • Actively collaborate with customers in food preparation procedures, ensuring their teams are fully proficient in using the equipment.
  • Travel predominantly to customer sites in the USA (approximately 15 to 20 days per month), which may include weekends and Canadian holidays.
  • Perform field inspections and calibrations on equipment to ensure proper functionality.
  • Organize and deliver regional training sessions for non-users, sharing critical information on the equipment's use regularly for anglophone customers outside of Quebec and occasionally for francophone customers within Quebec.
  • Prepare trip reports to document training activities and customer feedback.
  • Submit timely expense reports related to travel and training.
  • Assist in gathering customer insights through ghost visits as needed.
  • Support laboratory testing activities when required.

Essential skills and knowledge

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-2 years of training or public speaking experience (internal technical training on equipment will be provided).
  • Technically inclined with the ability to work hands-on with commercial cooking equipment.
  • Strong organizational skills, punctuality, autonomy, and a professional demeanor.
  • Excellent listening and communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English for anglophone customers and French for occasional francophone customers.
  • Spanish language skills are an asset.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 kg as needed.
  • Valid driver's license and the ability to travel extensively, including international travel (valid passport required).
  • Personal credit card for travel-related expenses.
  • 2 years of food service or restaurant experience is considered a plus.
  • Must be flexible with travel dates and able to work extended hours when required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to quickly build trusting relationships with customers.
