Our client, a global leader in design and engineering services, is seeking an experienced Lead Civil Design Engineer to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on sustainable capital projects across port facilities and non-process infrastructure for major mining clients.

About this role

We are seeking an experienced Lead Civil Design Engineer to join our client, a leading global design and engineering consultancy. This role will focus on delivering a range of sustaining capital projects for key mining clients, including port facilities and non-process infrastructure (NPI). As the Lead Engineer, you will play a key role in the leadership, coordination, and delivery of civil engineering design solutions across multiple high-impact projects.

  • Lead and manage the delivery of civil design projects from concept to completion, ensuring quality outcomes aligned with client expectations and engineering standards.

  • Deliver sustaining capital projects across ports, mining infrastructure, and NPI, including roadways, drainage, earthworks, haul roads, and site civil works.

  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to civil engineers and designers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance team culture.

  • Liaise with clients and key stakeholders to understand requirements, develop innovative design solutions, and ensure projects meet deadlines and budgets.

  • Oversee the development of engineering designs, calculations, and documentation to ensure technical accuracy and compliance with industry standards and regulations.

  • Manage and coordinate multi-disciplinary project teams, aligning civil design deliverables with other disciplines (structural, electrical, etc)

  • Monitor project performance, identifying risks, and implementing mitigation strategies to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.

  • Support the preparation of tender documentation, project proposals, and progress reports for internal and external stakeholders.

  • Engage with clients and contractors, ensuring open communication and issue resolution throughout the project life cycle.

Is this you?

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience as a Civil Engineer, with a strong background in the mining industry.
  • Proven leadership experience, including managing multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
  • Strong expertise in port facilities, haul roads, earthworks, drainage systems, and NPI project delivery.
  • Experience working on sustaining capital projects within the mining sector.
  • Ability to develop innovative design solutions while meeting client and project constraints.
  • Proficiency in civil engineering design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, 12D, or similar tools.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with experience in client engagement and stakeholder management.
  • Proven ability to deliver projects on time and within budget, while ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
