Introduction

We are seeking an experienced Track Maintenance Technician to join a team of 5 working on rail infrastructure for a leading iron ore company in the Pilbara. This is an exciting FIFO opportunity from Perth to contribute to the safety, reliability, and efficiency of rail operations. Working on a 2:2 roster, you'll be part of a team maintaining critical infrastructure. The role is a 6-month contract with potential for extension based on operational needs and performance.

About this role

As a Track Maintenance Technician, you will play a critical role in maintaining and improving rail systems that drive operational success. Reporting to the Track Maintenance Supervisor, this position involves working within an 5-person track team to ensure safe and efficient rail operations. This role offers a unique opportunity to engage in challenging and rewarding work in a fast-paced environment while prioritising safety and collaboration.

Duties:

  • Perform turnout refurbishments to maintain and improve track alignment and functionality
  • Replace Insulated Rail Joints (IRJ) to ensure track safety and performance
  • Conduct ballast remediation to maintain proper track stability and alignment
  • Carry out mobile flashbutt welding for rail defect removal and joint integrity
  • Address rail defects with precision and safety at the forefront
  • Operate work trains, including ballast hoppers and rail trains, where required Coordinate and communicate effectively with the team to integrate mechanical maintenance and repairs into overall operations

Is this you?

Requirements:

  • Certificate II OR Certificate III in Rail Infrastructure
  • HR licence
  • Minium 3-6 years proven track maintenance experience
  • Work train experience, including rail trains and ballast hoppers (highly desirable)
  • Rail Industry Worker (RIW) Card
  • Rail Medical (includes a full Category 1 Rail Safety Worker Medical) - not essential, but candidates must be able undertake one
  • Familiarity with rail infrastructure maintenance practices and procedures
  • Previous experience working in the mining industry
  • Full Australian Working Rights
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and zero harm
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
