Introduction

At Brunel Papua New Guinea, we are currently seeking a Senior Process Technician to join our team for a Fly-In-Fly-Out (FIFO) assignment to a goldmine in Papua New Guinea (PNG). This challenging and rewarding opportunity offers a chance to work in a dynamic environment within the mining industry.

What are you going to do 

As a Senior Process Technician, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the processing operations at the gold mine site in PNG. Your role will involve ensuring the efficient operation of processing plant/ equipment, monitoring production processes, and implementing safety procedures. You will work closely with a team of technicians and engineers to optimize process efficiency and meet production targets.

The people required will have high levels of operations skills and experience in Process Operations consisting of:

  • Previous experience in commissioning processing plants,
  • Jaw Crushing operation and circuits,
  • SAG mill operation and control,
  • Ball mill and grinding circuit operation,
  • Copper or other flotation circuit operations, especially base metals,
  • Process plant startup/shutdowns, pump starting/stopping and changeover processes incurring minimal spillage and maintaining a clean plant,
  • Thickener operations, maintaining constant, steady state at desired underflow density and clean overflow
  • Concentrate filter operations producing dried concentrate,
  • Water management systems.
  • Excellent trouble shooting skills,
  • Able to identify and rectify plant process problems before they develop into major events.
  • Ability to understand and identify mechanical and electrical problems and organise rectification before they develop into major events
  • Guide and mentor, National workforce to develop the skills required to safely and competently operate a modern process plant,
  • Be safety focused, understand and able to lead the National workforce in site safety systems including:
  • Energy control & isolation and permit to work processes,
  • High risk tasks such as confined space entry, work at heights, grid mesh removal etc.
  • Identification of, making safe and reporting of unsafe conditions or equipment.

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • Relevent qualification in Process Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role within the Gold mining industry
  • Strong understanding of process control systems and fixed plant equipment in particular, SAG milling and flotation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a remote and challenging environment on a FIFO basis
