To provide technical expertise and specialist support to the client’s project team during the planning, execution, and verification of electrical energization activities.
The Electrical Energization Specialist ensures that all electrical systems are energized safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project requirements, industry standards, and statutory regulations.
What are you going to do
Technical Support
Serve as the client’s subject matter expert on all technical aspects of electrical energization.
Review and provide input on energization procedures, switching plans, and safety documentation.
Verify compliance of contractor and OEM test reports with project specifications.
Provide on-site guidance during complex energization activities.
Pre-Energization Activities
Confirm completion of required inspections, pre-commissioning tests, and system readiness checks.
Verify installation quality of HV, MV, and LV electrical systems.
Ensure correct setting and calibration of protection relays and control systems.
Check earthing systems and bonding continuity prior to energization.
Energization Support
Support the safe execution of energization activities in accordance with approved plans.
Monitor electrical parameters and system response during voltage application.
Assist in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues during energization.
Post-Energization
Review energization results and system performance data.
Ensure corrective actions are implemented for any deficiencies.
Provide input to the final energization report and turnover documentation.
Interface & Coordination
Collaborate with EPC contractors, OEM specialists, client commissioning, and operations teams.
Report technical risks, deviations, and recommendations to the client’s Electrical Lead.
Participate in coordination meetings and readiness reviews.
Act as the primary point of contact between electrical contractors, commissioning teams, and Company representatives during energization.
Safety & Compliance
Ensure all energization activities comply with IEC, IEEE, NEC, NFPA 70E, and local regulations.
Support enforcement of LOTO and PTW procedures.
Promote adherence to electrical safety best practices and client safety policies.
Essential skills and knowledge
Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
10+ years of experience in electrical commissioning and energization in large industrial projects.
Proven track record in HV and MV system energization and troubleshooting.
Strong understanding of protection systems, earthing, and electrical safety.
Experience in client-side or owner’s engineer roles is an advantage.
Reviewed and approved energization procedures and documentation.
Verified pre-energization checklists and test records.
Technical input to energization progress and completion reports.
Recommendations for system optimization post-energization.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to interpret electrical drawings and commissioning documentation.
Effective communication and team collaboration skills.
