Introduction

We are seeking an experienced High Voltage Electrician to join our team on an 8:6 roster. This role involves hands-on maintenance and operation of backup power stations, including diesel generators, for a major client in the iron ore industry. Reporting to the Energy Operations Supervisor, the successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the reliable operation of high voltage transmission and distribution assets.

What are you going to do 

We are currently looking for experienced High Voltage electricians to join our team. The chosen candidate will be responsible for:

  • Operate and maintain backup power stations, including diesel generators, to ensure consistent power supply
  • Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on high voltage (HV) transmission and distribution assets
  • Perform high voltage switching and coordinate safe operations across transmission networks
  • Troubleshoot, test, and repair relays, transformers, and other critical HV equipment
  • Utilize computer-based maintenance systems, such as SAP, to track, document, and schedule work activities
  • Monitor Siemens GIS switchgear, ensuring reliable operation and compliance with operational standards

Essential skills and knowledge 

Requirements:

  • Electrical Trade Qualification
  • Current Western Australia Electrical Licence (Unrestricted)
  • Current High Voltage Switching Ticket (within 2 years or happy to renew)
  • Current First Aid certificate
  • Current CPR/ LVR certificate
  • Working at Heights (preferred)
  • Valid Drivers Licence (C class)
  • Experience with all aspects of HV power distribution and transmission systems
  • Experience in large scale transmission networks and operation of Siemens GIS switchgear would be an advantage
  • Experience with relay and transformer testing
  • Experience in computer-based maintenance systems - SAP
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and zero harm
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
