We are excited to present an excellent opportunity for a Laboratory Technician to join our client team on a 12 month contract. Based in Bundoora, Melbourne, this role is perfect for candidates with a strong background in sample preparation and plant operations.

What are you going to do 

As a Laboratory Technician specializing in Bulk Sample Preparation, you will be an integral part of the team responsible for handling both large and small bulk mineral samples. Your primary focus will be on ensuring that all processes are carried out with precision, consistency, and compliance with strict procedural guidelines. Your contributions will directly impact the quality and reliability of laboratory results, playing a vital role in supporting broader operational objectives in the mining industry.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Operate specialized equipment for sample preparation; comprehensive training will be provided to ensure you are fully equipped to perform your duties with confidence.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and procedural guidelines to maintain a secure working environment for yourself and your colleagues.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organisation of equipment and workspaces to prevent any risk of cross-contamination between samples, ensuring the integrity of results.
  • Verify and cross-check sample numbers meticulously to ensure alignment with documentation and avoid discrepancies in the workflow.
  • Efficiently manage multiple batches of samples while meeting designated timeframes, demonstrating effective time management and prioritization skills.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members in shared workspaces while also taking ownership of individual tasks and responsibilities, showcasing adaptability and flexibility.

This opportunity is ideal for candidates with experience in laboratory sampling or plant operations. While a Certificate 4 qualification is advantageous, it is not mandatory, making this role accessible to a broader range of candidates with relevant experience. Additionally, holding a current forklift license will be highly regarded, as it aligns with the operational requirements of the position.
