Introduction

On behalf of our client, a leading Energy Resources Company, Brunel is presently sourcing a Cost Controller. This will be a 6 month contract located in the Perth CBD.

What are you going to do 

  • Coordinate and receive information in Project budget preparation, assist in budget presentation as required both internally and to Joint Venture Partners
  • Analyse, advise, report on and provide recommendations in relation to financial anomalies, such as cost over-runs and variance in actual costs from budgeted costs
  • Design and build a project and department cost tracking system including processes and training materials
  • Prepare and submit monthly cash forecasts
  • Preparation of Diesel Fuel Rebate information and communications with the relevant authorities
  • Prepare, administer and effectively manage the project AFEs
  • Work closely with Accounts Payable and Contracts Teams
  • Complete regular month end reporting, reconciliation and assistance with the Company month end process as needed
  • Liaise with all areas within the organisation (internal customers), external auditors and other external stakeholders
  • Know and understand the financial delegation process and determine which financial delegates must authorise which purchase orders and invoices
  • Help ensure invoices are approved and returned to AP within a timely manner for process before the end of month financial process; and follow up with internal clients if required
  • Corporate accounting (Revenue, COGS, Depletion/Depreciation and others as required)

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • Proven experience in finance or project accounting roles
  • Strong understanding of budget preparation, variance analysis and reporting
  • Ability to communicate effectively across departments and external stakeholders
  • Expertise in building and maintaining financial tracking systems
  • Working knowledge of AP processes, AFE management, and financial delegation
