Introduction

  • Provide front line safety and technical leadership.
  • Ensuring safe effective and efficient execution of Mechanical Package installation activities in accordance with the project schedule and compliance to safety, quality and technical policies procedures and standards.
  • Providing technical support to all company functional teams within an assigned construction division and geographical area.
  • Provide technical guidance to assure Contractor compliance during planning, installation and completion of tank construction activities.
  • Interfaces with other project and construction area teams removing progress constraints, sharing lessons learned and executing corrective actions.
  • Lead and promote a one team approach to attain Company objectives.
  • Work in a highly visible project environment managing safe schedule delivery within lump sum contractual framework.
  • Managing leading and communication with multi-cultural teams with diverse cultures and behaviours.
  • Manage large area-based construction scope ensuring effective management of contractor including external and internal interfaces.
  • Multiple technical and non-technical interface requiring
  • Working with a large Contractor, organized as a Joint Venture requiring close coordination and interaction.
  • Lead direct and influence contractor in all issues related to construction activities to assure delivery of the project milestones to achieve schedule.
  • Achieve a smooth and flawless construction execution to Mechanical completion

What are you going to do 

  • Demonstrates visible safety leadership and care for people.
  • Act as the Company focal point for Tanks installation scope including review and/or approval of related technical and non-technical documents submitted by Contractor.
  • Ensures all activities are undertaken in compliance with Company and contractually defined policies, regulations, and standards.
  • Apply contractual awareness protecting the Company position when engaging with Contractors on schedule, technical and cost issues.
  • Establish and maintain relationships, communications with contractor and company functional teams (safety, quality, engineering, business).
  • Coordination of all CPY support functions (safety, Quality) ensuring safe and efficient delivery in line with the construction schedule
  • Ensuring contractors ongoing competency processes and procedures are compliant to Company requirements and Qatar government regulations.
  • Review Contractors Mechanical safety critical position CVs and interview as required providing technical input to approval process.
  • Review and recommend improvements to ways of working, procedures and plans ensuring effective and smooth project execution.
  • Participate in constructability and construction readiness reviews identifying improvement opportunities with contractor team.
  • Understand the Advanced Work Pack process, confirming alignment with path of construction review progress identifying constraints and mitigations.
  • Monitor and provide guidance to Contractor to ensure key Mechanical deliverables (Tanks), progress/milestones are achieved.
  • Attend activity planning and risk assessment meetings, assist contractor in identifying schedule mitigations and improvement.
  • Undertakes daily walk-through of construction areas, confirming safety standards are maintained,
  • Undertakes daily walk-through of construction areas, confirming efficiency of the work and compliance with the planned daily activities and overall construction schedule.
  • Review, approve and audit as required Contractor plans, procedures, method statement PTW and task instructions.
  • Attends onsite safety meetings and toolbox talks to ensure there is a clear understanding of the activities that are to be performed.
  • Review of contractors daily weekly and monthly reports analyzing performance and verifying progress and status.
  • Develops and issues CPY daily and weekly reports as directed by Line Manager

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • Bachelor of Engineering in relevant discipline and/or recognized industry trade qualifications e.g., NVQ/City & Guilds, Valid certifications issued by Internationally Recognized bodies.
  • More than (10) years proven experience within Client organization.
  • Minimum of 15 years field supervisory experience with broad knowledge of Engineering, construction execution
  • Requires broad experience with storage tanks installation and familiarity with relevant industry codes.
  • Demonstrated experience in the readiness of site to start tank erection, foundations, cathodic protection, earthing, material availability, qualified manpower, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience in the sequence of tank erection, conventional method and jack up method up to release for testing.
  • Demonstrate understanding of the NDT requirement (Base plates, shells, roof, etc.) and PWHT.
  • Demonstrate understanding of various coating requirements for tanks, internal and external.
  • Demonstrated experience in tank pressure testing.
  • Demonstrate clear understanding and experience in the system completion of Tank systems and completion requirements.
  • Demonstrates sound written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to translate design standards, specifications, codes, safety criteria, specific to onshore LNG facilities and utility systems.
  • Ability to read and translate approved for construction drawings.
  • Ability to use (Read) Navis works (3D model)
  • Ability to prepare, approve and /or verify Tanks documents and plans.
  • Ability to work within document control systems reviewing, consolidating, and approving technical and project documents.
  • IT literacy: Word, Excel, PDF, skills to support reporting, reviewing and communication requirements.
  • Ability to read and translate primavera schedules.
  • Ability to work within advanced work packing and completions systems
