Brunel is actively seeking an experienced HSS Systems Specialist to take a pivotal role in developing, leading, and managing Health, Safety, and Sustainability (HSS) digital and management systems for a major program with our mining client in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. This high-impact role is critical in establishing robust reporting frameworks, optimizing processes, and implementing systems that drive excellence in safety and sustainability outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Responds to, manages, and provides specialist/ functional expertise on HSS risk profiles to uplift organizational capability in HSS management through digital systems.
  • Provides advice and executes implementation of HSS systems and processes.
  • Fulfils the responsibilities of the Data Custodian and Business Application Owner (BAO) role for nominated HSS Systems Enterprise and Workforce Management Systems.
  • Works with Execution Leads and their direct reports to drive accurate reporting and continuous improvements of processes and systems.
  • Coaches and mentors team members to deliver Business Plan initiatives and achieve team performance indicators.
  • Manages relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provides technical support to HSS digital system end users in alignment with the HSS Support Model with a high focus on customer service.
  • Provides subject matter expertise to Technology supporting the delivery of HSS digital systems based on requirements and performs digital system user acceptance testing prior to launching upgrades or new digital systems.
  • Demonstrated capacity to interpret HSE internal and external requirements and translate them into practical implementation through standards, programs and practice.
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate positive outcomes with diverse ranges of stakeholders, has built relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve effective implementation of digital system changes.
  • Demonstrated ability to plans and develop the business case for functional/asset initiatives that clearly articulates the value of the solution/opportunity, and the risks/uncertainties involved proposing controls to maximize value.
  • Leads allocated Global and internal reporting standardization and automation initiatives.

Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Health Science, Environmental Science, Health and Safety Management, Technology, Information Management or related fields.
  • Strong computer skills including understanding of digital systems, data management and analytics.
  • Communicates technical points and logic effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Priorities when faced with conflicting deadlines.
  • Manages change by providing context, gathering stakeholders input, planning implementation and deploying initiatives.
  • Advanced systems knowledge and ability to:
  • analyze data and summarize outcomes telling the story around the data to make recommendations.
  • adapt business requirements and processes into digital system functionality in collaboration with the Technology function, consultants, vendors and other stakeholders.
  • serve our customers and end-users by understanding, troubleshooting and solving issues with HSS Systems.
  • Contributes positively to team culture, mentors' new members and works collaboratively to meet team performance indicators.
  • Facilitates the resolution of multiple, potentially conflicting objectives among stakeholder groups.
